New and Well-Maintained Trucks at Doug Andrus
Description
There's a specific trick in trucking recruiting: show the candidate a beautiful new tractor, then hook them to a ten-year-old trailer with bad tires. This video is largely a list of things Doug Andrus does to not be that company.
New equipment comes in every year. Every truck gets a premium mattress that's replaced between drivers — nobody is asked to bring their own or sleep on someone else's. Beyond that: best-in-class seats, company-supplied CB radios and inverters, auto start-stop to hold cab temperature while monitoring engine temp and battery strength, top-of-the-line interior trim, and the largest sleeper configurations the manufacturer offers. Headlights are spec'd for visibility. Tires are top brands, with tread depth checked regularly and replaced before reaching legal limits rather than at them.
Two details matter more than the feature list. First, trucks are spec'd for the job they're assigned — nobody gets handed equipment that was never designed for the work, which is why the flatbed, refrigerated, and hopper fleets run different configurations. Second, maintenance happens on site with the company's own mechanics, and drivers are welcome in the shop to give input on repairs. Sam's testimonial covers what that's like when something goes wrong on the road.
Trailers get traded far more often than the industry norm. See the full fleet, or look at open positions and call (800) 336-1034.

Here at Doug Andrus we bring in new equipment every year.
All trucks are set up with premium mattresses that are changed out between drivers. There's no being asked to bring your own mattress, or worse, sleep on someone else's used one. We also get best-in-class seats, company-supplied CB radios and inverters, and auto start-stop to maintain comfortable cab temperature and monitor engine temp and battery strength.
We order the top-of-the-line interior trim packages offered by the manufacturer, as well as the largest sleeper configurations available. Doug Andrus trucks have the highest quality headlights for increased visibility.
We don't skimp on things like tires. We buy only top brands. Tread depth is checked regularly and changed before reaching legal limits.
All of this is combined with the truck spec'd for the job we assign it to. There's no being asked to use a truck for a job it was never designed to do.
The maintenance is performed by top mechanics on site in our shop. Drivers give input on maintenance and repairs and are welcome in the shop.
We trade these trucks in at low mileages and replace them with new trucks. The trailers are also traded in for new trailers far more frequently than is common for the industry. You don't have to worry about being lured in by a nice truck and then expected to hook up to a seven or ten-year-old trailer with bad tires.
New trucks. New trailers. Well maintained.
Frequently Asked Questions
How old are the trucks at Doug Andrus?
New equipment is brought in every year and traded at low mileages. Trailers are replaced far more frequently than industry norm, specifically so drivers aren't paired with a new tractor and an aging trailer.
Do drivers have to supply their own mattress?
No. Every truck comes with a premium mattress, and it's replaced between drivers rather than passed along.
What comfort features come standard?
Best-in-class seats, company-supplied CB radio and inverter, auto start-stop for cab temperature, top-tier interior trim, and the largest sleeper configuration the manufacturer offers.
Can drivers talk to the mechanics about their own truck?
Yes. Maintenance is done in-house by the company's own shop, and drivers are welcome in the shop and encouraged to give input on repairs.
When are tires replaced?
Before they reach legal limits, not at them. Tread depth is checked on a regular schedule and only top-brand tires are used.
